galactic adventurer.
monster wrangler.
kid @ heart.

I started working professionally at age 6, tracing Garfield cartoons for my mom’s fridge. She was a kind client and humored my efforts, while lovingly ignoring the copyright infringement. As I grew up, like most kids in the 80s, I maintained a healthy diet of Optimus Prime, Calvin & Hobbes and Metroid. I connected deeply with these wild worlds and did my best to scrawl my interpretations of them.

After a SCAD presentation to my high school art class, my sights were set on a degree in Sequential Art. Before I knew it, I found myself rocketing towards Georgia to double down on a cartooning career. As fate would have it, the late 90s comics crash thwarted my sequential dreams but opened a door to concept art for video games.

I began my game career with Singletrac Studio, but after a series of buyouts, it was time to move west to Insomniac Games. And to my surprise, with some surreal planetary alignment, I found myself alongside industry veterans developing a new adventure for the Playstation 2: Ratchet and Clank. Beginning as a concept artist, I had the fortunate privilege to help define the characters and the franchise as a whole. And as if my bones don’t feel old enough, over the last 26 years I’ve worked as a lead, Director of Character Art and Principal Artist across Insomniac’s properties and beyond.

Outside the studio I co-founded CreatureBox, worked with some great entertainment companies, and developed a growing list of personal properties on the side. But most importantly I continue to jump into life’s adventures with my amazing wife Janet. It’s a journey I’m profoundly thankful for.

And hey, just between you and me, I’m still trying to get a few more drawings on that fridge.
